A teenaged boy was shot and critically wounded Thursday evening in a confrontation with police after reportedly threatening to commit suicide.
The 17-year-old was shot by officers responding to a 911 call about a person in the area of 35th and West, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Officers found the boy lying on the sidewalk, suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
A 17-minute search of the neighborhood found no signs of any other suspects, police said.
The teenager is believed to be the victim’s father.
The teen was identified as 18-year old Jordan Davis of Los Angeles.
The shooting comes less than two weeks after an 18-month-old girl was killed after she was shot in the chest by a man who called 911 and threatened to commit himself.
A week earlier, a 17-month old girl was shot to death after police responded to a domestic dispute call and were unable to find any suspects.
