It’s not just the tea that Starbucks is talking about.
The company is also talking about its new $8.99 flat white starfish logo, which debuted in August and has since been used on more than 300,000 cups of coffee.
“We want to take the time to reflect on how to do this right, and how we can make the best cup of coffee possible for everyone,” Starbucks spokeswoman Katie Pritchard said in a statement.
The $8 flat white is made up of two parts: the white star, a circular symbol, and the flat black.
The flat white features a star at the bottom of the cup that has been rotated 360 degrees to show the price, with a horizontal line for the amount of stars in the cup.
“It’s a reflection of the starfish’s color and shape, which we hope makes it stand out from other products on the market,” Pritcher said.
The logo was introduced in August as a way to encourage people to buy more coffee, but Starbucks also uses the flat white to highlight that the coffee is made from only 100 percent roasted coffee beans.
The new logo is part of Starbucks’ effort to bring back the old days when coffee shops were just a place to find cheap cups of tea.
It also comes as Starbucks continues to lose money.
The coffee giant reported $895 million in net income for the fourth quarter, which ended Sept. 30, up from $832 million the year before.
Analysts at Jefferies Research had expected Starbucks to report $1.4 billion in revenue, according to a conference call on Thursday.
Starbucks had a net loss of $1 billion for the year.
It’s also trying to find ways to boost its share price, which has been in freefall for the past year.
In a statement, the company said it is adding new products and offering new promotions to help customers find their way around its stores.
